Darmasiswa program is a one-year non-degree scholarship program offered to all non-Indonesian citizens or foreign students from countries which have diplomatic relations with Indonesian government. This program is organized by the Ministry of Education, Culture (MoEC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of the Republic of Indonesia. The main objectives of this program are: (1) to increase and cultivate interest in Indonesian language and Indonesian culture among citizens from other countries; (2) to increase mutual understanding and provide stronger cultural bonds between different nations; (3) to promote in increase the interest in the language and culture of Indonesia among the youth of other countries. To support the objectives of the program, the participants learn Indonesian language (Bahasa Indonesia), art, music, craft and other specific subjects at higher education institutions or campuses in Indonesia that have been selected by the government. The location of the institutions is spread all over Indonesia. Until to date, the number of countries participating in this program is more than 135 countries. The interest of international students to participate in this program keep increasing year by year.
